VENTURA, CALIFORNIA – Local high school and college students are encouraged to apply for a summer internship with the Ventura County Fall Prevention Program. The eight-week internship will result in a $1,500 stipend made possible through the J. Tom D. Duncan Fall Prevention Awareness Scholarship.

The student must be at least 16 years of age and have a minimum of eight weeks of availability for the internship. To apply, the student should email a 500-word essay to [email protected] by Monday, June 12 (deadline extended), explaining why they want to compete for the internship, along with a proposal for the capstone project.
The Ventura County Elderly Fall Prevention Coalition (VCEFPC) is made up of a partnership between a variety of local agencies and organizations, including the Ventura County Area Agency on Aging, with a goal of providing resources and information aimed at reducing injuries and deaths that occur among older adults as a result of falls. With a focus on improving balance and mobility, VCEFPC partners offer a variety of fall prevention classes as well as an annual Fall Prevention Forum.
